The Dash-Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.

He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears,

But he said what mattered most of all was the Dash between those years.

For that Dash represents all the time that she spent alive on Earth,

And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash,

What matter is how we live and love and how we spend our Dash.

So think about this long and hard; Are there things you’d like to change?

For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real

And always try to understand the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more

And love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile,

Remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is being read with your life’s actions to rehash

Would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your Dash?

Seems like this year,gender revolution is back with a bang with fashion embracing transexuals and gender diversity as witnessed in James Franco in the cover of Candy Magazine,beautiful male model Andrej Pejic to star in Marc Jacobs campaign(who himself posed in drag)Lea T in Givenchy,her story was groundbreaking when she posed full frontal.Lea T demonstatred the thin line boundaries of sexuality.Matters of sexuality have always been senstitive,but at the end of the day everyone wants to be validated despite of who they are.

Thoughts

Sometimes in life you feel like you are the only one..then you realize that in fact you should be grateful for what you have.I guess is the never ending quest of humanity to run on the want treadmill and be blinded of the fact that sometimes what we want is not what we need.Though it sounds cliche,when we overcome our fears and have inner peace,it is the beginning of greatness.

Since in I am in Asia,I have connected with some of the music,it is amazing how you can feel good music without understanding the language.As I was watching a preview from Astro Bio,about the legendary Leslie Cheung whom I have heard of,then I became curious of Anita Mui.I came across a clip in you tube of her final days,quite emotional and most importantly the most amazing thing is her stage presence.

Leslie Cheung is the Canto Pop King and Actor who sadly died of depression in April 2003.He is as well considered one of the biggest stars in Asia.

Anita Mui is one of the famous Canto Pop Diva and Actress who was known for her stage presence which is reminiscent of Madonna and presently Lady Gaga.Sadly she died of cancer in December 2003.However it is her strength,courage and charisma that her fans must keep her legacy forever,as she 'married' them in her farewell concert Voice from The Soul.Below in her own words from the clip she says emotional and powerful words:

but the time for the wedding has passed,

I had several chances to put on a wedding dress but I missed it.

Every lady's dream is:

to possess her own wedding dress,to have her own wedding.

I believe,I,Myself,don't have a chance.

but whatever you do,no matter how hard you try,how hard you make effort,trying to work it out,it's just vain,nothing.

No problem,I can wait for Beckham,wait for his divorce.

But waiting for Andy Lau,is more than difficult,he is celibate(no intention of marriage).

The last song f my concert,is meaningful,including the Voice of my heart and soul.

But I wanna tell you from my heart,

although the sunset is beautiful,it is gone in seconds,becomes the past.

So we have to treasure each minute and second.

I wish I could tell all of you,the sunset is amazing,but it approaches the dust.

She then sang in her language,The Manhattan-Kiss and Say Goodbye.

It was such a moving moment that Ann got the crown,because she is truly surprising and deserving.

Indeed,it does get better.

Ann went from being the bullied and awkward to the coveted title of America's Next Top Model.

She is the epitome of a imperfect beauty,she might not be conventionally accepted as beautiful but the girl is the right answer for High Fashion.

Hope her career does not go silent like previous winners.

Just when I thought that I have adjusted to Lady Gaga being unpredictable,she left me speechless with her astounding and electrifying performance.Like always her avant garde world was filled with a showstopping leotard with pumped shoulders and shoes to match her ego,and as always with her equally talented esemble of creative team.

Just when we thought that grand opening was enough,they literally threw her in a pit,metaphorically that she is a monster who deserves to be thrown out of the game.Even Beyonce had to up her game a bit with her military inspired performance.Well,Lady Gaga proved to be unstoppable as she emerged with the ever flamboyant and on point Sir Elton John to give what I consider to be the best duet in the Grammy history.Meanwhile,she managed to make Elton John into a little monster with futuristic sunglasses,one dangling earring and make up smeared face.

On different note,Jennifer Hudson looked amazing in a Victoria Beckham ensemble,which proved VB interview true,contrary to the believe that her amazing,sophisticated and successful line was only for the model thin, like her,but rather it is for different sizes.She even joked that she could fit in dress Jennifer Lopez's wore from her collection.
